The Calgary office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, one of Canada’s largest law firms, is seeking a Legal Assistant in our Financial Services Group.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drafting documents for corporate/commercial transactions including, trust letters, closing books and due diligence.
- Coordinate flow of information and of work
- Initiate follow-up as required
- Organize and maintain client files
- Communicate with clients
- Perform administrative duties with respect to accounting, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.
- Conduct searches and or registration for: Cores, PPR, LTO, Taxes, QB.
- Prepare and/or answer correspondence
- Processing expense reports
- Answer telephone, direct calls, respond to inquiries
- Various other duties may be required
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Legal Assistant Diploma
- Minimum 3 - 5 years legal experience
- Experience with real estate conveyancing
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- PPR accreditation
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Detail-oriented individual with good proofreading skills
- Able to set own priorities while maintaining flexibility
- Perform clerical, administrative and general office duties
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Availability to work overtime, when necessary
