BLG Calgary Office Community Involvement

BLG Calgary plays an active role in the community. Our lawyers, staff, and students contribute their time, energy, and funds to various programs and associations. The firm is involved with Volunteer Calgary, the Foothills Hospital Development Council and Calgary Legal Guidance where local professionals serve as board members and volunteers.

• BLG Calgary and the Children’s Legal Education Resource Centre (CLERC) founded a joint initiative, brokered by Pro Bono Law Alberta - The Child Advocacy Pro Bono Project. This project provides greater access to legal services for underprivileged children in Alberta. BLG lawyers provide fundamental legal services in a variety of civil law matters that these children would otherwise be unable to access or pay for.
• The Calgary Foundation is committed to making the City a more caring society and Borden Ladner Gervais is pleased to support the Foundation's efforts and goals.
• BLG Calgary has been a long time supporter of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
• Canadian Athletic Foundation promotes athletics. Douglas Mitchell, Q.C., Co-Chairman and Regional Managing Partner of BLG Calgary, was its Founder and acts as Chairman.
• A longstanding supporter of the Calgary Zoo, BLG participates in Zoogala and several other fundraising events each year.
• The entire BLG Calgary team contributes annually to several fund raising events for the United Way, such as fashion shows, wine and cheese receptions, and a mini golf tournament.
