BLG Vancouver Office Community Involvement

BLG Vancouver has a long-standing tradition of supporting and advocating important causes in our city, our province, and our country. BLG Professionals offer business and legal expertise serving as directors or board members to a variety of charitable and cultural organizations including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

• In 1998 when the Canadian Olympic Committee launched a nation-wide search for a city to represent Canada in the global competition for the 2010 Winter Games, BLG supported the Vancouver Whistler Bid Society in its proposal for Vancouver Whistler as the national Bid. When the proposal was successful, the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation was established and BLG remains a supporter of the 2010 Olympic endeavour.
• For more than 15 years BLG Vancouver has been an energetic contributor to The United Way Community Care Fund. Through our annual workplace campaign, we raise thousands of dollars that are distributed through the United Way to our chosen charity or to the United Way's General Care Fund. Our annual workplace campaign raises funds for the United Way to invest in prevention services, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation throughout the Vancouver Lower Mainland area.
• Dedicated to assisting at-risk youths in the Lower Mainland, The Covenant House offers a variety of services including food, shelter, crisis care, drug abuse treatment, vocational preparation, street outreach programs, and life skills training. BLG is a major donor to the Capital Campaign, and in recognition of our role, the Youth Lounge at The Covenant House was renamed The Borden Ladner Gervais Lounge.
• BC Children with Special Needs hosts one of the larger fundraising community events, which the Firm proudly supports -- the 24 Hour Relay. BLG has participated in the 24-hour relay for more than 20 years.
• Through various contributions and participation the Walk for Breast Cancer, BLG actively supports the Canadian Cancer Society & the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in their fight against cancer.
