Background
Tamar Agopian is an associate at our Toronto office. Tamar was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2004. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall. Since the start of her legal career, Tamar has worked exclusively in insurance litigation, performing defence and coverage work on property, casualty and motor vehicle matters.
Prior to law school, Tamar graduated from McGill University with high distinction, earning a degree in Economics and Political Science. She is also fluent in French and Armenian and participated in a bilingual moot while in law school. Tamar is a member of the Toronto Lawyers Association.
Areas of Practice
- Tamar practises civil litigation with an emphasis on the defence of property losses, occupier’s liability, personal injury, municipal liability, products liability and advancing subrogation matters.
- Provides coverage advice to insurers, including broker’s errors and omissions claims.
Professional Experience
- Tamar has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal;
- She has conducted and assisted at trials, appeals and motions;
- She has acted as lead counsel at multi-party mediations;
- Speaker at client seminars and internal BLG workshops on varied topics, such as damages assessments, coverage issues and summary judgment motions;
