Jason Brooks is a partner at our Vancouver office. Jason was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1996. He is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University with a Bachelor of Laws in 1995. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University in 1991.

Professional Experience
Advises Canadian and foreign-based clients engaged in all aspects of the investment management industry, including fund managers, investment advisors and distributors, on a full range of issues relating to the formation, management and operation of retail and exempt investment funds in Canada and the offering of their securities in public offerings and private placement transactions.
- Has extensive experience in advising on a wide range of compliance, fund governance, adviser and dealer registration, sales practices and advertising issues.
- Has obtained novel exemptive relief from a wide variety of prospectus, dealer registration, conflict of interest and other compliance requirements under Canadian securities laws.
- Advises clients with respect to securities and corporate law matters, including:
- merger and acquisition transactions;
- corporate finance transactions;
- shareholder and corporate governance matters;
- the securities-related activities of financial institutions and related companies; and
- securities-related activities on the Internet.

- Actively involved in The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC); former member of the Regulatory Committee.
- Speaker at seminars on investment management industry-related issues.
- Member of the Canadian Bar Association.
- Former director of D.S.R.F. Down Syndrome Research Foundation, a charity focused on improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities.
- Member of Triple Crown Racing, a Vancouver-based road cycling race team.
