Background
Patrick Foy is a senior appellate counsel and a partner at our Vancouver office. After clerking with the British Columbia Court of Appeal, Patrick was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1978. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Laws 1976. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 1971.
Patrick was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1998 and is a Fellow of The American College of Trial Lawyers.

Professional Experience
- Counsel for numerous commercial clients and public bodies in the appellate courts, including many, many cases before the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and many cases before the Supreme Court of Canada.
- Counsel at all levels of court for the Crown and for private clients on aboriginal rights and title claims made by First Nations.
- Has assisted counsel to the Government of Mexico on the structure and content of the dispute settlement mechanisms of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and in the conduct of the defence of a number of Chapter Eleven Investor-State arbitrations initiated against the Government of Mexico. Counsel for Mexico on the first two court applications to set aside Chapter Eleven arbitration awards.
