Background
Tanya Goldberg is a partner in the Health Law Group in our Toronto office.
Tanya was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1993 and the Ontario Bar in 1995. She completed the National Programme at McGill University in 1992 and graduated with a B.C.L. and an LLB law degree with Upper Second Class Honours. She articled at the Court of Appeal for Ontario as a Law Clerk to the judges.
Prior to her law studies, she received a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology from McGill University, graduating with First Class Honours in 1987.
She is bilingual in English and French.
Areas of Practice
- Tanya practised commercial litigation for five years and has experience litigating claims involving intellectual property, contract, product liability, professional discipline, negligence, tax and employment issues.
- She is now practising health law and defends various hospitals from claims for medical malpractice as counsel to the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) as well as providing advice to Hospitals on various policy issues.
- She has experience with claims involving medical devices including lookback and notification and class actions brought against hospitals.

- Tanya is an experienced litigator who has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court, the Tax Court and various regulatory tribunals.

- Member, Medical Devices Committee, a joint initiative of the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care, including participation in the Licensing and Risk Assessment working groups
