Background
Julie Hopkins is an associate in our Calgary office. Ms. Hopkins articled with Howard, Mackie and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1994. She graduated with her Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Alberta in 1993. Prior to that she majored in Political Science and received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 1990.

- Julie practices in the general area of commercial litigation.
Professional Experience
- Julie's experience is focused on complex and technical litigation matters involving oil and gas, insurance and constitutional issues at both the trial and appeal levels. She has also been involved in a number of arbitrations and mediations, and in providing advice concerning various regulatory matters before the Alberta Energy Utilities Board and the National Energy Board.
- She has prosecuted Income Tax Act and Excise Act offences for the Federal Crown and prosecuted traffic and criminal offences for the Provincial Crown.
- Julie had the opportunity to assist a member of three bi-national panels under NAFTA, involving issues related to anti-dumping duties.
- Public Member of the Alberta Insurance Councils Appeal Board.
- Member of the Calgary Bar Association.
