Background

Martha Martindale is an associate at our Vancouver office. Martha was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2005. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Law in 2004. Prior to attending law school, Martha obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 2000.

Areas of Practice

  • Martha practises in the area of financial services including lending matters and bankruptcy and insolvency.

Professional Experience

  • Martha has experience with bankruptcy and insolvency matters in respect of both the Canadian Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, including bankruptcies, proposals and restructurings. Martha's experience includes acting for debtors, creditors, receiver/monitors and landlords in insolvency proceedings.
  • Martha also has foreclosure and realization experience in acting for both creditors and debtors.
  • Martha's experience also has an emphasis on lending files including drafting and negotiating credit agreements and supporting security documentation, corporate documentation and opinions. Martha's lending experience includes traditional covenant based loans, asset backed lending, real estate financing and construction loans, ranging from major syndicated loans to small and medium market lending transactions. Martha also has experience in and familiarity with cross-border lending transactions.
