Background
Sheila Acharya Van Horne is an associate in our Calgary office. She was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 2005 after obtaining her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary in 2004. Prior to that, Sheila attended the University of Melbourne in Australia as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in a Master of Public Health Program. Sheila obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours), with Distinction, in Neuroscience from the University of Lethbridge in 2000.
Areas of Practice
- As a member of both the Commercial Real Estate and Health Law Groups, Sheila maintains a practice specializing in commercial real estate, lending and various aspects of health law (non-litigious).
Professional Experience
- Drafting security documentation required in commercial financing transactions, including mortgages, security agreements and assignments
- Negotiating and drafting documentation relating to acquisitions and dispositions of commercial properties
- Conducting due diligence in a variety of commercial real estate contexts including title and off-title reviews
- Reviewing and negotiating clinical trial agreements on behalf of health care institutions
