Background
Anne Kinsman is a Partner in the Ottawa office. Anne is a lawyer and registered patent agent. Anne obtained a B.Sc. in Engineering Physics (Electrical) from Queen’s University in 1987, an LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1995, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1997. She qualified as a Canadian patent examiner in 1989, is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the U.S., and has been a Professional Engineer since 1990. Anne is currently a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, and heads the high tech originating practice group.

- Patent Litigation - advising on technical and strategic issues, particularly in relation to telecommunications, wireless technology, memory and related matters.

- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Canada, the U.S. and internationally for major Canadian telecommunications and electronics developers.
- Developing and providing opinions on validity and infringement.
- Litigation support and technical advise in relation to patent and copyright matters.
- Licensing of patent portfolios.
- Preparing patentability, infringement, validity, inventorship and other opinions.
- Undertaking IP due diligence reviews.
- Advising on patent filing and IP portfolio strategies
- Training and lecturing on Canadian and U.S. patent practice, internally and externally.
- Patent Examiner in the Canadian Patent Office from 1988 - 92, and a member of the Patent Appeal Board 1991-92.
