Background

Peter Thompson is Counsel in the Ottawa Office. He holds degrees in Arts and Law from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Called to the Bar in 1967 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1980, Peter practises as an Advocate.

Over the years, Peter has represented diverse clientele interests at all levels of the Provincial and Federal Court systems, including the Supreme Court of Canada. As well, with over 35 years of experience in regulatory proceedings before Federal and Provincial energy tribunals, his particular expertise is in the regulation of natural gas and electricity transmission and distribution utilities. His concurrent service, for 25 years, as the Managing Partner of BLG's legacy firm in Ottawa attests to Peter's leadership qualities.
