Our Aboriginal Law Group
The Borden Ladner Gervais Aboriginal Law Group consists of a team of lawyers from various disciplines practising in our regional offices throughout the country.
The Group has extensive experience in all facets of aboriginal law and can therefore provide a significant range of services when dealing with corporate/commercial, administrative/labour law, and general litigation issues unique to this area of the law.
The members of our Aboriginal Law Group have acted for First Nations, bands, corporations and institutions as well as the provincial and federal governments in a wide range of areas dealing with First Nations and aboriginal law issues.

Corporate/Commercial Matters
- Representing First Nations in connection with financing and installation of resource and manufacturing concerns on First Nations Lands.
- Advising chartered banks in connection with on reserve financing issues.
- Advising First Nations, bands and individuals on a range of labour relation matters as well as Band election procedures, certification and negotiations.
- Advising First Nations, bands and individuals on a range of employment law issues including termination of employment, group termination, unjust, dismissal, employee dismissal, employee discipline, human rights, employment equity, workers compensation, occupational health, safety and employment standards.
- Advising First Nations, bands and individuals on human rights issues both at the provincial and federal levels.
- Analyzing pricing policies in light of the Competition Act.
- Advising on issues of unfair trade practices.
