Linda L. Bertoldi  

Linda is a senior partner in our Toronto office and is Chair of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP's National Electricity Markets Group. Linda is widely recognized as a leading lawyer in the electricity sector and has been recognized by Lexpert®, Chambers Global, Public Utilities Fortnightly and other organizations for her expertise in the electricity sector. Linda was recognized in 2012 by the Women's Executive Network as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women.

Linda has been actively involved in the power sector since 1987, with a focus on corporate transactions, project finance, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions.

Linda has advised developers, lenders and investors in power projects across Canada including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, natural gas, cogeneration and district energy projects. Linda has had extensive experience advising municipal electric utilities and their owners on governance, financing, and mergers and acquisitions.

• Advises clients on all aspects of power project development including natural gas, wind, solar, hydroelectric, biomass, cogeneration, combined heat and power on structuring transactions, contract design, project finance, regulatory issues, power projects purchase and energy sales agreements, tolling agreements, non-utility generation contracts, operations and maintenance agreements, regulatory and permitting matters.
• Advising lenders and borrowers on project finance and on corporate finance transactions with respect to electricity projects.
• Advises Ontario municipalities and municipal electric utilities on issues relating to mergers, divestitures, financing, governance, shareholder agreements and regulatory issues and infrastructure, water and wastewater issues.
• Provides ongoing advice during the operations phase of electricity projects on areas such as procurement, operations, maintenance and finance.
• Advises major electricity consumers in Ontario on their energy needs including regulatory requirements, requirements under the Market Rules relating to market participation and energy procurement strategies and contract arrangements.
• Advises on district energy projects including transaction structure, financing and energy services agreements.

• Speaker at numerous conferences and client presentations on electricity related topics including energy contracts, power project development and financing and municipal electric utilities and their shareholders.
