Ronald Foerster  

Ronald Foerster is a partner in the Commercial Litigation Group in our Toronto office. Ron’s practice is focused on complex commercial disputes in both the private and public sectors, including contractual disputes, accountants’ liability, lawyers’ liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, shareholder disputes, corporate governance issues, fraud investigation and recovery, class actions, and other commercial disputes. Ron has extensive experience in the hospital/healthcare sector including corporate governance issues. Ron also has expertise in public law including constitutional litigation, public inquiry work, administrative tribunal work and judicial review. He has appeared as counsel at all levels of court in Ontario and before the Supreme Court of Canada.

• Acts for a Canadian law firm in complex multijurisdictional litigation arising from allegations of misconduct on the part of the officers and directors of a major multinational corporation.
• Regularly advises and represents clients on issues and claims relating to the accounting profession, including issues of accountants’ professional responsibilities.
• Acts for private and public sector clients in a broad range of commercial disputes including contract disputes, negligence and negligent misrepresentation.
• Extensive experience in fraud and fraud recovery including asset recovery in foreign jurisdictions.
• Acts for and advises hospital and other public sector clients on corporate governance issues and litigation.
• Has extensive class action experience, including cases in the Ontario Superior Court, The Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench and the Federal Court of Canada.
• Commission Counsel, Arar Inquiry – appointed senior legal counsel to Justice Dennis O’Connor in the Arar Inquiry – Policy Review.
• Commission Counsel, Walkerton Inquiry – appointed Commission Counsel to Part II of the Walkerton Inquiry.
