Christopher Carron Maughan |

Christopher is a student at McGill University, where he is working towards degrees in civil and common law. He has worked for the McGill International Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy and served on the Organizing Committee of the McGill Symposium on Counterterrorism and Civil Liberties. During the summer of 2009, he interned at the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association, conducting research on free speech, prisoners’ rights, and privacy rights, among other subjects. The following year, Christopher interned at the Ateneo Human Rights Center, a Philippines-based NGO that advocates for freedom of expression, protection of the right to life, and women’s rights, as well as the rights of migrant workers and Aboriginal people. Prior to attending law school, Christopher completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at Queen’s University and a Master of Journalism degree at Carleton University. As a print journalist, Christopher wrote for some of Canada’s leading media outlets, including the Toronto Star, The Canadian Press, and the Montreal Gazette. |
