Ryan graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa where he received his J.D. While there, he served as an Assistant Coach with the Men’s Varsity hockey team for four seasons, and worked at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic in the Tenant Division. Prior to his studies in law, Ryan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Pre-medicine from Yale University and then went on to play professional hockey for three years. As a native of Ottawa, he has enjoyed volunteering his time supporting local charity organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa, Operation Go Home, Boys and Girls Club, and Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa. Currently, Ryan is sitting as a member of the United Way/Centraide Ottawa Community Services Cabinet. Had he not pursued a career in law, Ryan would have moved to the Niagara region to open a vineyard with his wife, Kristy. |
