BackgroundJohn is an associate at our Ottawa office. John received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa, Magna Cum Laude. He was called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario in 2001 and is a member of the Litigation Practice Group. Areas of Practice - John practices in the area of commercial litigation with a strong emphasis on all aspects of construction law, real property law and employment law.
Professional Experience - John’s practice involves representing owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors and surety bonding companies with respect to issues relating to all types of constructions disputes. He has litigated major construction disputes involving all types of construction issues, including: construction liens, construction tender claims, construction trust claims, delay claims and construction deficiency claims. John also frequently consults with and defends architects and engineers in professional liability disputes and constructors and owners in Occupational Health and Safety Act proceedings.
- His practice also involves representing owners, developers, municipalities, provinces, mortgagors, mortgagees and first nations, with respect to a wide variety of real property issues, including planning disputes, title issues, tenancy disputes and mortgage enforcement proceedings.
- He also represents employers and employees in all aspects of employment disputes, including wrongful dismissal claims, non-solicitation and non-competition provisions, confidentiality obligations, executive compensation and discipline issues.
Professional and Community Activities - John is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, the County of Carleton Law Association and the Advocates’ Society.
- He is a guest speaker and seminar leader to the Ottawa Construction Association and the Brockville and District Construction Association.
- His publications include a wide variety of papers and articles in the areas of construction and commercial law.
