Background

Magnus Verbrugge is a partner at our Vancouver office. Magnus was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1998. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with both a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Business Administration in 1997. Previously, he received a Bachelor of Arts (History) in 1993, also from the University of Toronto.

    • Meinhardt Fine Foods Inc. (BIA Proposal)
  • Acts for financial institutions, debtors, bankruptcy trustees and receivers in connection with foreclosures, receiverships, bankruptcies and realizations.
  • Acts for financial institutions, borrowers and private lenders in a broad range of secured financing transactions, including syndicated loans, leveraged buyout transactions, and asset-based lending. Recent transactions include:
    • Acting for a syndicate of lenders in connection with a $600,000,000 senior debt and bond offering by an entertainment company.
    • Acting for the Canadian lender in a cross-border $650,000,000 senior debt financing of an industrial sector company.
    • Acting as Canadian counsel for the acquiror in the financing of a $115,000,000 acquisition of a manufacturing company.
    • A $50,000,000 syndicated senior financing and $15,000,000 subordinate financing in connection with the acquisition of a building products company.
    • A $55,000,000 syndicated senior financing in connection with the acquisition of a safety services company.
    • A $60,000,000 senior secured financing of a retail business.
    • A $96,000,000 syndicated senior financing in connection with the acquisition of an oil and gas services company.
    • A $51,000,000 syndicated senior financing in connection with the acquisition of an oil and gas services company.
    • A $70,000,000 syndicated senior financing in connection with the acquisition of a building materials company.
    • A $22,000,000 senior secured financing in connection with the acquisition of a manufacturing company.
