Background
Tim is the National Leader of Borden Ladner Gervais Class Action Practice. He serves on the Executive of Ontario Bar Association Subcommittee on Class Actions.
Tim was called to the Ontario Bar in 1983. He graduated from Windsor Law School in 1980 before obtaining a Master of International Law degree from the Australian National University.
Prior to attending law school, he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering degree from the University of Toronto and continues to use this training in defence of technical disputes.
Areas of Practice
Tim practises commercial litigation, including class action proceedings and cases involving a technology element.

- Defending corporations, municipal governments, utilities and hospitals in class actions, including claims for business and other economic losses and property damage.
- Defending manufacturer of pharmaceutical product in class action alleging personal injuries and economic losses caused by undisclosed side effects of drug.
- Defending manufacturer of domestic cleaning appliances in class action against allegations that design defect causes build up of mould, mildew and odour.
- Defended feed manufacturer in multi-billion dollar class action after international borders closed to exports of Canadian beef and cattle as a result of outbreak of disease.
- Defended municipalities for claims for fatalities, injuries and damages arising from natural gas explosion and claims by residents for failure of infrastructure.
- Defending claims against Hospitals arising from defects in design, manufacture and maintenance of equipment and medical devices, including imaging systems, defibrillators, endoscopy equipment, surgical instrumentation and fixation devices.
- Defending a variety of manufacturers in claims arising from use of products.
- Defending recreational vehicle manufacturer for claims arising from use of watercraft, snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles.
- Defended renter of appliances against attempt to consolidate claims by customers.
- Defended target defendant against wide range of claims for contamination of concrete placed in office towers, high rise residences and houses.
- Act for users of software in claims arising from failed software development projects and licensing.
- Joined practice as member of defence team for target defendant defending actions by residents and businesses in City evacuated by train derailment.
