Geoffrey Thompson is a partner in our Financial Services Group in our Vancouver office. Geoffrey practises in the areas of commercial insolvencies and corporate reorganization, creditors’ remedies, realizations, recovery of assets, secured transactions and commercial fraud. He represents banks, credit unions and private lenders in recovery of commercial loans and advises corporations on insolvency and reorganization issues. He also represents insolvency professionals in their capacity as receivers, trustees in bankruptcy, liquidators and monitors.

- Represented debtors, secured creditors, trade creditors, purchasers and monitors in such Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act proceedings as Northland Properties, Olympia & York, Pacific National Leasing, Redekop Properties, United Properties, Hydroxyl Systems, Ascalade Communications, Steels Industrial Products, Azure Dynamics, Point of View Developments, Tuscan Villas, New Future, Bear Mountain and numerous others.
- Represented Royal Bank of Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Bank of Montreal, Bank of Nova Scotia, Citizens Bank Canada, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union, Coast Capital Savings Credit Union and North Shore Savings Credit Union on realization of secured loans in all sectors of the economy.
- Represented creditors challenging asset protection trusts, reviewable transactions under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, the Fraudulent Conveyance Act and the Fraudulent Preference Act.
- Represented borrowers and guarantors in actions brought by secured creditors.
- Represented trustees in bankruptcy in proposals and bankruptcies.
- Represented receivers and receiver-managers in instrument and court-appointed receiverships.
- Represented liquidators in proceedings under the Winding Up and Restructuring Act (Canada).
