Daniel Ayotte specializes in litigation, arbitration and mediation. His practice involves mainly construction claims, product liability, professional liability and commercial litigation.

Daniel represents multinational corporations, contractors, engineering firms, manufacturers, insurers and bonding companies. He handles complex litigation matters and pleads before all civil courts and tribunals.


  • For several years, acted as legal counsel in an important construction dispute brought before the Iran-U.S Arbitration Tribunal sitting at The Hague.
  • Successfully pleaded several landmark cases including Bank of Montreal v. Commission Hydroélectrique du Québec et al., in which the Supreme Court of Canada defined the duty to inform in contractual matters arising from the general obligation to act in good faith, Walsh & Brais inc. v. Montréal (Communauté urbaine de) REJB 2001-26438 (C.A.), Birdair v. Danny's Construction Company inc., 2013 QCCA 580 and Hydro-Québec v. Construction Kiewit Cie, 2014 QCCA 947, where the Québec Court of Appeal defined the duty to cooperate in construction contracts. 
  • Assists clients in identifying their business risks, drafting contracts and developing risk prevention and training programs.
  • Promotes and uses mediation and other alternative dispute resolution techniques.
