Anne Merminod is an experienced and skilled litigator who devotes her practice to defending class actions.

She currently defends clients, both at authorization, on the merits, or involved in settlements before judicial courts in first instance and at the appellate level, across a broad variety of industries in the fields of:

A sought-after speaker and author, she regularly speaks and write on the subject of class actions. Her recent works include, "COVID-19 class actions forecast" American Bar Association (June 2020 edition), "Maximus in Minimis: Damages for Stress, Worry and Inconvenience in Class Actions" (Annual Review of Civil Litigation, 2020 -Thomson Reuters), "Privacy Class Actions" in the Book entitled "Managing Privacy in a Connected World" (LexisNexis, 2020) and “Two solitudes of privacy : Privacy class ations in Quebec and the rest of Canada (Wilson Lafleur).

Anne is the vice-president of the executive committee of the Class Actions section of the Canadian Bar Association (Québec Division). She also co-chairs the annual National Conference on Class Actions of the Barreau du Québec.

Anne consistently takes a personal, practical and business-oriented approach to the delivery of her legal services, which lead her to be recognized by her peers as Acritas Star consistently since 2016. She is recognized by Benchmark Canada as a “Future Star" and is listed in the Benchmark Litigation “40 & Under Hot List" which highlights the partners in litigation who stand out in their practice throughout the U.S. and in Canada. Experience

  • Hébert v. Kia Canada Inc. – Defeated authorization on behalf of Kia Canada in the defective Bluetooth system class action. The Court of Appeal of Québec upheld the decision in appeal.
  • Sofio v. Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) – Defeated authorization on behalf of IIROC in the class action following the loss of personal information of 50,000 investors. The Court of Appeal of Québec upheld the decision in appeal.
  • Maxwell vShoppers Drug Mart Inc./Loblaws & all (2019) – Obtained the discontinuance of the class action regarding the alleged practice at differentiating prices according to the gender of the consumer, commonly referred to as "pink tax".
