Helga has extensive experience in civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance defence in the areas of personal injury, municipal liability, police liability, professional negligence, dental malpractice, product liability and aviation law.
She assists counsel in all aspects of litigation, including liaising with clients, experts and investigators, and assisting with drafting pleadings, discoveries, mediation, pre-trial and trial preparation.
Helga has an interest in e-discovery and has been involved in large document cases. She has experience working with Summation and other e-discovery software.
She has also assisted counsel in large projects, including fraud cases involving commercial towing, resulting in significant experience with the process for obtaining possession of vehicles pursuant to the Ontario Repair and Storage Liens Act.
Helga has served on the Board of Directors for the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario. She is a Part-Time Faculty Member at Seneca College.
She speaks several languages including French and Spanish.
