Jason advises on shareholder disputes, investor fraud, insolvencies, restructurings and reorganizations.

Jason represents:

  • Secured and unsecured creditors, including investor groups and financial institutions;
  • Shareholders; and
  • Commercial landlords and tenants.

Prior to joining BLG, Jason was litigation practice group leader at a national firm, and the founding partner of a commercial litigation boutique firm based in Ottawa/Toronto.

Experience

  • FirstOntario Credit Union Limited v. 54 Shepherd Road Inc. et al. Acted as representative counsel for investor group in a complex receivership involving a real estate development and syndicated mortgage holders from January 2020 to March 2021.
  • Gallagher et al. v. The Saint John County Condominium Corporation Number 13. Represented group of real estate investors in a multifaceted interim receivership, a bankruptcy proposal involving city bylaw infractions and the sale of property.
  • Juhasz v. Golden Oaks Enterprises Inc. Acted as counsel to the receiver in an elaborate rent-to-own residential real estate ponzi scheme. 
  • Bacic et al. v. Millennium Educational and Research Charitable Foundation et al. Acted for court-appointed inspector, interim receiver, receiver and trustee in a cross border investor fraud matter.
