Julie G. Hopkins



Julie is a senior commercial litigator with 25 years of arbitration, litigation and administrative law experience.

She assists clients with complex and technical disputes involving issues such as:

  • oil and gas
  • insurance
  • commercial and corporate

Julie has extensive appellate and administrative experience.

In addition to sitting as a commercial arbitrator, Julie sits as a grievance arbitrator and unjust dismissal adjudicator under the Canada Labour Code.

Julie also sat for a number of years as a Panel Chair of the Alberta Insurance Councils Appeal Board, which heard appeals of licensing and discipline issues concerning insurance agents, brokers and adjusters.


  • Counsel for a Joint Venture Owner in a domestic arbitration related to certain oil sands operations
  • Appointed as an appeal arbitrator under an Election Code for a First Nation
  • Appointed as a lead investigator of a high profile workplace investigation
