Emma's practice focuses on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions.

She advises clients in English and French on public and private transactions, debt and equity financings, as well as matters including corporate governance, disclosure requirements and regulatory compliance.

Emma completed her legal studies receiving the Gold Medal for the highest standing in her graduating class and was Editor-in-Chief of the Ottawa Law Review.

She summered and articled with BLG before returning as an associate.

Experience

  • Acted for the MFDA Investor Protection Corporation in its amalgamation with the Canadian Investor Protection Fund in connection with the consolidation of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada.
  • Represented the bookrunners, led by National Bank Financial Inc., Stifel GMP and Canaccord Genuity Corp., in a US$267-million offering of subscription receipts of Allied Merger Corporation in connection with the reverse takeover of Mondavi Ventures Ltd., the largest go-public financing in the gold industry in recent years.
  • Acted for ZYUS Life Sciences Inc. in its reverse takeover transaction with Phoenix Canada Oil Company Limited by way of plan of arrangement and C$20-million concurrent private placement.
  • Represented the agents, co-led by Clarus Securities Inc. and Cormark Securities Inc., in a C$50-million public offering of common shares of Discovery Silver Inc.
