Danielle Ridout



Danielle is an associate in BLG’s Toronto office. She practises competition, marketing and foreign investment law.

Danielle’s practice includes advising on:

  • proposed mergers
  • competition compliance
  • criminal cartel matters
  • foreign investment review
  • advertising and marketing law

She also litigates class action claims against clients relating to alleged violations of the cartel and misleading advertising provisions of the Competition Act.


  • Acting for Loblaw Companies Limited, George Weston Limited and certain of their affiliates in class actions across Canada alleging price fixing in respect of wholesale and retail sales of fresh commercial bread and in the related Competition Bureau conspiracy investigation.
  • Acting for an international auto parts supplier in Canadian immunity and leniency applications related to cartel activity, as well as related class actions.
  • Acting for a Canadian client with respect to the ongoing U.S. investigation into alleged subsidies on uncoated groundwood paper from Canada.
  • Acting for a major global airline in the Canadian aspects of the global air cargo investigation
