Heidi is a senior associate in the firm's Environmental, Municipal, Expropriation and Regulatory group in BLG's Vancouver office.
Heidi has a wide range of legal experience guiding individuals, companies and government agencies through regulatory processes, administrative and civil proceedings, and quasi-criminal environmental prosecutions relating to natural resource, construction, and other industrial projects.
Heidi's services cover:
- due diligence matters;
- permitting (including environmental assessments);
- land rights (including leases and other land access and tenure agreements);
- regulatory compliance; and
- emergency response
She also defends companies and individuals in federal, provincial and municipal enforcement matters, from assisting with inspections and investigations to representing clients charged with environmental offences.
Over the course of her career, Heidi has also assisted developers and property owners dealing with redeveloping and remediating contaminated properties, including in disputes between neighbouring property owners, and navigating environmental clean-up orders.
Prior to joining the firm, Heidi clerked at the Federal Court of Canada and practiced in the Vancouver office of an international law firm.
Before entering the legal profession, she studied environmental engineering at the University of Waterloo, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment. She has worked in the manufacturing, water treatment, and oil and gas industries, as well as in the public and non-profit sectors.
Heidi's scientific expertise, hands-on experience and multidisciplinary approach to the law helps her provide clients with practical solutions to complex environmental and regulatory law matters.
