Brian acts for clients in a variety of corporate commercial matters. He has extensive experience advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and complex corporate reorganizations.

He also advises clients on corporate governance issues, joint venture, partnership and shareholder agreements

He has advised on and assisted clients, including boards of directors and executive officers, with:

  • corporate and shareholder disputes
  • commercial transactions involving government corporations/agencies
  • a variety of personal responsibilities and liability risks and best practices

Brian also has experience with Maritime work, including the purchase, construction and disposition of vessels and terminals, and with sponsorship and marketing agreements.

Brian provides legal services through a Law Corporation.


  • Central 1 Credit Union on its purchase with The Co-operators Group Limited of The CUMIS Group Limited.
  • Acquisition of Bentall Corporation by SITQ Immobilier.
  • Disposition of Canadian Securities Registration Systems to ONCAP.
  • Disposition of Radio Station 104.5, “The Beat,” to Bell Media.
  • Acquisition and disposition of Douglas Lake Cattle Company and other ranches.
  • Disposition of the SportMart chain of sporting goods stores to the Forzani Group.
  • Acquisition of Leaver Mushrooms by Money’s Mushrooms Ltd.
  • Acquisition and disposition of various software and technology companies, equipment dealerships, and fish- and food-processing businesses.
  • Acquisition of a pipeline construction company and of a shipping container companies.
