Melanie is an articling student who previously summered with BLG in 2020. Melanie’s primary focus is on gaining experience in Disputes.
As a law student, Melanie interned with the Supreme Court of Canada, the Department of Justice and the Crown Attorney’s Office. She worked as a teaching assistant for University of Ottawa’s legal research and writing course, was an associate editor for the Ottawa Law Review and honed unique advocacy skills by contributing to submissions to the United Nations on human rights. Melanie also served as president of the Regroupement étudiant de common law en français, as member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Student Executive, the Faculty Council, and the French Common Law Program Assembly, and acted as a student mentor.
Prior to joining BLG Melanie worked in the House of Commons, where she gained valuable knowledge about Canada’s legislative process and parliamentary procedure.
Melanie chose to work at BLG because of the firm’s commitment to collegiality and to gain experience in a wide variety of practice areas.
In Melanie’s spare time she enjoys hiking, playing volleyball and tasting different coffees from small Canadian breweries. Melanie is fluent in English and French.
