Yemisi Afolabi

Articling Student


Yemisi is an articling student at BLG’s Toronto office for the 2021 articling term. She is focusing on business law.

Yemisi obtained her Masters' in International Business Law (LL.M) from Osgoode Hall Law School. During the LL.M program, she volunteered with Osgoode Professional Development - Student Committee and ProBono Students Canada. Prior to joining BLG, Yemisi worked as a securities legal clerk at a leading asset management firm. Before moving to Canada, Yemisi worked as in-house counsel for a multinational company, advising on market entry strategies, commercial due diligence and specialist risk management consulting, and practiced in a leading law firm in Lagos, Nigeria.

Yemisi chose BLG primarily for its' commitment to its people, the culture of excellence and the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working with leading experts within a collegial environment. From the warm reception during the in-firms and meeting with the students each give a snapshot of the meaningful tasks and level of responsibility entrusted to them, it was evident that the program offered not just legal training but mentorship towards building a successful legal career.

In her spare time, Yemisi enjoys dancing, yoga, cycling, and dining with friends.
