Yemisi is a summer student at BLG’s Toronto office for the 2020 summer term. She is focusing on business law.
Yemisi recently obtained her Masters in International Business Law (LL.M) from Osgoode Hall Law School. During the LL.M program, she volunteered with Osgoode Professional Development - student committee and ProBono Students Canada - family law project. Prior to joining BLG, Yemisi worked as a securities legal clerk at one of Canada’s leading asset management companies. Before moving to Canada, Yemisi worked as in-house counsel for a multinational company, advising on market entry strategies, commercial due diligence and specialist risk management consulting, and practiced in a leading law firm in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a member of the Chartered Governance Institute.
Yemisi chose BLG primarily for its commitment to its people, the culture of excellence and the opportunity to gain first-hand, solid experience working with leading experts within a collegial environment. From the warm reception during the NCA Network’s OCI Day process, to the in-firm interviews and meeting with the firm’s students give a snapshot of the meaningful tasks and level of responsibility entrusted to them, it was evident that the program would be a fulsome experience, offering not just legal training but mentorship towards building a successful legal career.
In Yemisi’s spare time, she enjoys dancing, yoga, cycling, exploring new restaurants, playing board games with friends and maintaining her Jenga championship title.
