Shanna is an articling student at BLG’s Toronto office focusing on business law.

As a law student, Shanna was actively involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. She assisted in the initio Technology and Innovation Law Clinic, helping technology startups seeking early stage legal information, and worked as a copy editor for the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies. Shanna volunteered for Accès Justice Access, a bilingual legal information centre, the Tenants’ Rights Project at Dalhousie Legal Aid, and was the vice president of research and development at the Dalhousie Student Division of Lawyers Without Borders.

Prior to joining BLG, Shanna worked at the Toronto General Hospital as a clinical research coordinator and research analyst for multiple large-scale research initiatives and clinical trials in the field of cardiovascular sciences. During this time, she volunteered as an alumni mentor for the University of Toronto Faculty of Arts and Science, and held the position of alumni lead for her alma mater’s Student-Faculty-Alumni Engagement Committee.

Shanna chose BLG after witnessing firsthand how community and team oriented the firm is during the in-firm process. Furthermore, BLG’s expertise in Corporate Health and Technology law drew her to the firm as her goal is to bridge her scientific background with her legal practice.

In Shanna’s spare time, she enjoys long distance bike rides and cycling around the city to visit one of Toronto’s many parks or patios. Shanna has an appetite for adventure and will seek out any opportunity to travel, hike, or camp. While studying law in Halifax, Shanna took up surfing in the Atlantic Ocean. She also loves animals and volunteers her time at various animal shelters and rescue organizations.
