Josh practices international investment and trade law, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance, business and human rights, and international investment arbitration.

He advises clients on the following:

• meeting international trade and investment regulatory requirements such as sanctions compliance, procurement, export controls and supply-chain transparency
• expanding national and international laws and standards to protect human rights in the context of transnational business
• international investor protections and arbitrations, including how investor-protection regimes are affected by governmental actions to regulate environmental and labour impacts

Josh works with clients across industries to ensure they are prepared to meet domestic and international regulatory standards, especially those related to supply-chain issues and business and human rights. He advises companies on reforming internal policies and compliance programs to meet applicable legal standards and best practices.

Josh also acts for clients in investor-state disputes launched under free trade agreements and bilateral investment treaties and appears before international arbitration tribunals. He has acted on trade remedy files before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.

Josh has been a visiting law professor in Gambia and India in international and comparative law.

He joined the Ontario bar after completing a judicial clerkship with Chief Justice Allan Lutfy of the Federal Court.
