Lucas has a broad range of experience working on various aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including leasing, financing, acquisition, disposition and development.
Lucas is also a member of BLG's Indigenous Law Focus Group and works closely with colleagues to provide clients (including entrepreneurs, Indigenous governments and economic development agencies) with advice and support in respect of leasing on First Nations lands and the drafting and adoption of Land Codes.
He also works closely with BLG's Technology focus group, with a focus on autonomous vehicle technology. He closely follows and writes on industry trends, technological standards and innovation, and provincial, national and international regulation of autonomous vehicles. Lucas' interest lies in the intersection of autonomous vehicle technology and infrastructure with real estate, including the emerging global market for delivery by drone.
Lucas serves as the National Chair of BLGTQA+, BLG's national employee-resource group for LGBTQIA2S+ firm members and is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion at BLG and in the broader legal profession.
Outside BLG, Lucas is active in the legal community. An alumnus of Osgoode Hall Law School, he mentors students and works closely with the Community and Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP) legal aid clinic. He was one of Osgoode Hall's program co-ordinators with Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) during his studies, and remains an active supporter of PBSC's work at Osgoode Hall and across Canada.
