Sam Levy is an Associate in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and a member of the firm’s Corporate Commercial Group.
Sam practices corporate law, with an emphasis on public markets and cross-border regulation. His experience includes securities & capital markets, international trade, foreign investment and customs regulation.

Sam summered and articled with BLG. As a student, Sam completed secondments at RBC Capital Markets and PEN International, a global human rights organization in the U.K.

A graduate of the combined JD/MBA program at the University of Toronto, Sam's wide-ranging background includes professional and academic experiences in Europe, Asia, North America (US and Mexico), and the Middle East. Sam speaks Spanish and French, and is learning Mandarin Chinese (HSK III Candidate).


  • BLG acted as Canadian counsel for PE-backed Atlanta-based buyer, East West Manufacturing, LLC in its acquisition of all the assets of Groupe Varitron, Inc., a top five electronic manufacturing services (EMS) provider in Canada.
  • Advising LNG Canada, POSCO, and the Canadian Coalition for Construction Steel in connection with a safeguards inquiry before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, relating to a recommendation to the Government of Canada on whether to implement a definitive safeguard measure on certain steel products.
  • Advising an e-commerce retailer on export controls requirements for new last-mile delivery technology.
  • Advising a multi-national consumer goods retailer on its regulatory obligations for all of its 200+ product categories, including consumer products, food, electronics, textiles, and dangerous goods.
  • Representing national and multi-national importers, exporters, and distributors at various anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations.
  • Advising a multinational automotive corporation in connection with its customs and regulatory compliance.
  • Advising an America retail company on tariff classification for 50+ products whose customs declarations were disputed by the CBSA.
