Jacob represents both Canadian and international clients in customs, anti-dumping and countervailing duty, and investment dispute litigation. Jacob provides strategic advice to businesses on customs compliance, procurement, sanctions, and export controls, and to government clients on free trade agreements and WTO matters.

Before pursuing law, Jacob was an elected Ward Councillor in the Township of Uxbridge, and worked in an advisory capacity to both a Federal and Provincial Member of Parliament.

As a law student at Queen’s University, Jacob competed in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria and pre-moots in Montréal, Washington, New York, Belgrade, and Budapest.

Jacob also participated in an exchange with the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Law.

  • Agricultural producer's associations in connection with free trade agreement and WTO compliance matters.
  • Delivering capacity-building seminars covering anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard investigations to a Southeast Asian government.
  • Assisting a global fashion retailer in establishing e-commerce fulfillment operations in Canada, including successfully accessing customs duty and GST relief.
  • Delivering a capacity-building seminar on the trade-in-services provisions of free trade agreements to a Canadian provincial government.
  • Advising a government electricity authority on subsidy issues arising in foreign countervailing duty investigations.
  • Lone Pine Resources Inc. in connection with an investment dispute under the North American Free Trade Agreement.
  • A mining company in connection with investment protections pursuant to multi-lateral and bi-lateral investment treaties.
  • LNG Canada and the Canadian Coalition for Construction Steel in connection with a safeguards inquiry before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal relating to a recommendation to the Government of Canada on whether to implement a definitive safeguard measure on certain steel products.  
  • International Industries Ltd. (Pakistan) in connection with an anti-dumping investigation and injury hearing before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal concerning certain Carbon Steel Welded Pipe exported from Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey, and Vietnam.
  • An S&P/TSX 60 company in connection with a procurement dispute under the Agreement on Internal Trade and Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
  • An Ontario municipality advising on procurement requirements pursuant to the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement.
  • An engineering joint venture in connection with an investigation of alleged corruption.
  • A government entity in connection with a review of procurement, anti-corruption and integrity policies.
