Locklyn maintains a diverse practice with an emphasis on construction litigation. He represents owners, general contractors and subcontractors in disputes arising from large-scale construction and engineering projects. His experience includes multi-million dollar cases involving contractual disputes, negligence, deficiency claims, and delay claims.
Locklyn represents clients in a wide variety of commercial disputes, including construction disputes with the federal government and subcontractors related to infrastructure projects, disputes with sureties related to bond claims (acting both for and against surety companies), condominium project disputes, builders’ lien disputes, custom single family and multifamily residential construction disputes, shareholder disputes, breach of contract disputes, defamation and disparagement disputes, and disputes related to directors’ personal liability and oppression.

Locklyn has extensive experience acting as counsel at all levels of court in Alberta, and has a significant amount of experience in alternative dispute resolution processes, including arbitrations, mediations and judicial dispute resolutions.

  • Counsel for a general contractor in relation to numerous infrastructure projects in Alberta and British Columbia;
  • Counsel for sureties in relation to bond claims and litigation arising therefrom;
  • Counsel for a developer in relation to a dispute with it and its former architects/architects corporation;
  • Counsel for auto groups in relation to various disputes;
  • Counsel for corporations in relation to various shareholder disputes, including oppression claims;
  • Counsel to trustees in bankruptcy and receivers in relation to various commercial litigation disputes;
  • Counsel for cryptocurrency exchanges in relation to disputes with users and the user agreements;
  • Counsel for an infrastructure general contractor in relation to a dispute with a subcontractor and the subcontractor’s surety;
  • Counsel for a general contractor in relation to a dispute with Parks Canada, and a Subcontractor;
  • Counsel for condominium corporations in relation to various disputes, both construction and non-construction related disputes;
  • Counsel to investment companies, developers, and trust companies in relation to various disputes;
  • Counsel to lawyers and their insurance companies in relation to allegations of negligence;
  • Counsel to insurance companies in relation to claims of negligence, both construction and non-construction related disputes;
  • Counsel to a large national client in relation to a vexatious and Organized Pseudolegal Commercial Argument litigant;
  • Counsel to large national clients in relation to Consumer Protection Act disputes;
  • Obtained judgment and costs through an extensive arbitration for a construction client related to significant unpaid invoices and successfully defended a significant counterclaim related to allegedly deficient work.
  • Obtained a favourable award through arbitration for a client related to a mutual access easement agreement;
