Bill 64 in Quebec and Bill C-11 at the federal level propose a significant modernization of Canada's private sector privacy laws. Both proposals provide new exceptions to facilitate the use and disclosure of personal information for research and innovation purposes by businesses. These reforms also introduce new concepts such as the de-identification and anonymization of personal information.
