Bill 64 in Quebec and Bill C-11 at the federal level propose a significant modernization of Canada's private sector privacy laws. Both proposals provide new exceptions to facilitate the use and disclosure of personal information for research and innovation purposes by businesses. These reforms also introduce new concepts such as the de-identification and anonymization of personal information.

Join members of our national Privacy and Data Protection team on April 6 to find out what these reforms mean for research and data analytics in your organization. Our privacy experts will offer a comparative view of the two reforms from a business analytics perspective and will be available to answer your questions on both bills. The presentation will also address data trusts and their potential role in certain private and public sector initiatives.

Have specific questions? Please submit any questions you would like addressed through the RSVP form.

Please note that this session will be presented in French.

CPD Information

BC: This course has been accredited for 1.0 hours. Course name: Reforms of Privacy Laws: New Opportunities for Business Analytics. Course number: N04062021.

ON: This session is eligible for up to 1.0 Substantive Hours.

QC: Please note, the concept of "recognition" or "accreditation" has been abolished. By doing this, the Barreau is trying to make it easier for lawyers to claim mandatory CLE credits without a formal accreditation process. It is now up to individual lawyers to determine the eligibility of a training activity and to declare the hours in their “Dossier de formation en ligne”.
