Firm recognized for commitment to fostering inclusive culture

Toronto (March 6, 2020) — For the second year in a row, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers. This award, presented by Mediacorp Canada Inc., recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs.

“We not only try to foster an inclusive and diverse workplace through various programs and events, we have made it a core part of our overall talent strategy,” said John Murphy, CEO and National Managing Partner at BLG. “Our strength is our people, and we are committed to ensuring our policies, hiring practices and leadership development ensures there is space for different perspectives.”

“We are proud to receive this recognition again in 2020. Every year we build on our diversity and inclusion initiatives, and provide a wide variety of programs to help celebrate our diversity, and connect people,” added Laleh Moshiri, National Director, Diversity and Inclusion at BLG. “We recently announced the national expansion of our Driven By Women program, aimed at connecting women leaders in business and in law. Programs like this give us an opportunity to extend our values to our clients as well.”

BLG’s comprehensive and action-oriented Enhancing Diversity and Inclusion policy, unconscious bias training, mental health initiatives and parental leave re-integration program were some of the key reasons BLG was recognized.
