François handles complex litigation, class actions, and injunctions for a wide variety of clients. His expertise includes:

  • contract disputes
  • civil liabilty and tort
  • transportation law
  • insurance defense
  • injunctions

In these fields, he regularly litigates cross-border disputes, drawing from his education in both common and civil law from McGill University.

Early in his career, he gained significant trial experience in a nine-month long trial on the merits of the class action relating to the Lac-Mégantic rail accident (Ouellet c. Compagnie de chemin de fer Canadien Pacifique, 2022 QCCS 4643).

In addition to his commercial litigation practice, François leads a public interest case against the Montréal Police Department, alleging civil liability for excessive use of force causing death.

He is a cited author by the Supreme Court of Canada in the References re Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, 2021 SCC 11.

During his studies, he represented McGill University at the Davies Securities Law Moot (2018), where his team won the Award for Best Factums.
