Marian is certified by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario in financial services law, and has a legal project management certification.

Marian specializes in banking, financial services, lending, structured finance and securitization. She has experience in:

  • Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Canada Housing TrustTM No. 1 and the Canada Mortgage Bonds securitization program
  • senior and subordinated debt finance
  • syndicated loans to borrowers in multinational structures
  • project finance, acquisition financing and loan restructurings
  • senior secured and unsecured lending
  • cross-border and domestic transactions
  • the Personal Property Security Act (Ontario)

Marian is the leader of the Financial Services Group Business Continuity Team in the Toronto office. Drawing from her experience, Marian also trains new members of BLG’s Financial Services Group, articling students and law clerk students.

Prior to BLG, Marian worked as a financial services law clerk at a national law firm based in Toronto.

An avid golfer, Marian is a past ladies champion of the annual BLG staff golf tournament.

Experience

  • Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Canada Housing TrustTM No. 1 in the Canada Mortgage Bonds Program, Canada’s leading mortgage securitization program.
  • The Bank of Nova Scotia and a syndicate of lenders in a $1 billion senior unsecured credit facility to CanWest MediaWorks Limited Partnership and a $500 million senior secured revolving credit facility to CanWest MediaWorks Inc. for the $550 million initial public offering of CanWest MediaWorks Income Fund.
  • Bank of America, N.A. and a syndicate of lenders in a $240 million multi-jurisdictional first lien credit facility to Mitel Networks Corporation and Mitel US Holdings, Inc. to acquire Mavenir Systems, Inc.
