Hülya is an articling student at BLG’s Toronto office for the 2023-2024 articling term.

During law school, Hülya volunteered with the Clinique Juridique de Saint Michel, in developing access to justice through innovative technological tools and as a member of the racial profiling committee. She was also the Co-President of the Black Law Student’s Association of McGill (BLSAM) where she worked with other members in leading the push for more diversity and inclusion at the faculty. She also joined the moot team as a Julius Alexander Isaac Moot researcher. During her last year of law school, she participated in an exchange program at University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne where she learned more about Comparative Law. Prior to joining BLG, she worked for the Federal government at Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada and supported over thousands of clients in their immigration process.

Hülya chose to work at BLG after having the chance to be paired with a mentor who not only provided amazing guidance but went above and beyond to provide opportunities for Hülya to connect with other students and lawyers who took the time to share their experiences with her. Getting to know everyone and having the space to ask questions and contribute to the discussions made it clear to her that this would be a space where she would be welcomed, and able to grow and learn from others.

In Hülya’s spare time, you can find her discovering new restaurants and different cultural foods, traveling to warm destinations, listening to music, going to art galleries, and watching crime documentaries.
