Background
Caitlin (Cait) Sainsbury is an associate in our Toronto office. Cait was called to the Bar in 2007 after having summered and articled at BLG. She graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2006. Prior to law school, Cait completed a degree in Environmental Studies and Native Studies at Trent University, receiving her Honours Bachelor of Arts in 2002.
Cait is a member of the Commercial Litigation group. In addition to her general commercial litigation practice, Cait's practice includes a focus on securities litigation and regulation matters, as well as criminal and quasi-criminal prosecutions. She provides representation to clients in civil and regulatory proceedings as well as investigations conducted by the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada, the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada, and the Ontario Securities Commission. Cait also represents parties charged with offences under the Criminal Code, the Provincial Offences Act, and the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Cait was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission for a one year term in 2008-2009, where she acted as Litigation Counsel in the Enforcement Branch.
