Mark maintains a broad civil litigation and arbitration practice. He advises and advocates for clients on a range of commercial matters and healthcare disputes. Mark also acts as counsel for athletes and sports organizations in disputes before domestic tribunals and across other dispute resolution forums.

Mark summered and articled at BLG before returning as an associate.

Experience

  • Arbitration Experience
    • Representing a large public utility in a $240 million dispute with a contractor involving the manufacturing, supply, and construction of hydroelectric turbines before a three-member tribunal.
    • Successfully represented Olympic figure skaters Shane Firus and Carolane Soucisse before the SDRCC in obtaining a release and transfer between international skating federations.
    • Representing a large public utility in a contractual dispute over the purchase and sale of electrical capacity and energy before a three-member tribunal.
    • Representing a law firm in a significant multimillion dollar contractual dispute with another law firm.
    • Representing a large commercial retailer in a contractual dispute over commission rates on the sale of gasoline.
    • Representing a large distribution company in an international arbitration over a distribution agreement.
    • Advising a large entity in a commercial dispute with a major insurer.
  • Public Sector Disputes and Claims
    • Advising and representing public hospitals on a variety of medical malpractice actions.
    • Advising and representing healthcare institutions in cases involving youth and adult mental health issues, including at hearings before the Consent and Capacity Board and the Child and Family Services Review Board.
    • Representing police services in negligent investigation and use of force claims.
    • Representing municipalities in various infrastructure maintenance and design claims.
