Sheryl’s key objectives are to efficiently assist school board clients and maintain relationships with board administration, Union counsel and arbitrators. Sheryl has over two decades of legal experience with expertise in the labour and employment sector, working primarily with school boards and school associations.

Sheryl is a first point of contact for client inquiries and client matter intake and has an exceptional response time. She is also a direct line of contact to arbitrator offices and Union counsel and communicates regularly with parties for seamless planning, scheduling and preparing for hearings.

In addition, she plays an important role in the drafting and processing of submissions, the filing of responses, the scheduling of hearings and the adherence to deadlines.

Sheryl works with both partners and associates in the National School Boards practice group and in addition to aiding counsel also explores and maintains cost effective solutions for clients. She also manages the National School Boards practice’s library of collective agreements, arbitration awards and related documents.

Sheryl has a thorough understanding of the grievance arbitration process, HRTO and OLRB applications process, various levels of court proceedings and school board collective agreements. She has assisted counsel and clients with numerous and varying grievance arbitrations, HRTO complaints and OLRB applications, including the Ontario wide school strike.

Prior to joining BLG, Sheryl worked as a senior legal assistant at a boutique management-side labour and employment law firm, specifically with school board clients, and as Superior Court Registrar and Court Support Coordinator at the Ontario Superior Court in Toronto.
