National (May 20, 2022) – Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) was named as the winner in two categories at the 2022 Canadian Law Awards.
BLG is excited to have won two industry-leading awards, including:
- Litigator of the Year - Nadia Effendi
- Pro Bono Initiative of the Year - BLG/Landings LLP
Nadia Effendi was named Litigator of the Year, marking the second major recognition she has received in the last year after being named as one of Benchmark Litigation's Top 50 Women in Canada last summer. In 2020, Nadia was appointed Regional Group Manager of the Disputes Group. Nadia is bilingual and represents a wide range of clients in complex and high profile proceedings.
The firm was recognized for its pro bono efforts after supporting evacuations from Afghanistan in partnership with Landings LLP. This initiative used Landings’ referral network and refugee expertise together with BLG’s national resources to rapidly identify, prepare, and assemble applications for vulnerable Afghans, and particularly those that assisted the Canadian mission in Afghanistan, seeking evacuation under the government’s special immigration measures.
