Three Calgary lawyers appointed King’s Counsel

Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) is proud to celebrate the achievements of three Calgary-based lawyers who have been appointed King’s Counsel in 2024.

Congratulations to:

Through their strong leadership, longstanding commitment to the legal profession and their community involvement, Karen Salmon, Melinda Park and Duncan Marsden exemplify the qualities worthy of a King’s Counsel distinction.

The Alberta Minister of Justice and Solicitor General released this year’s list of King’s Counsel appointees at the end of March.

This prestigious designation within the Canadian justice system celebrates lawyer’s significant achievements and represents the best of the legal profession. This year, 103 Alberta lawyers have received the honourary title.

King’s Counsel applications are reviewed by a committee of representatives from a province’s bar association, law society and various courts. The Lieutenant Governor selects the provinces appointees from a short list of distinguished leaders within the legal industry. In Alberta, this process is conducted every second year.
