Teagan is an accomplished litigator with expertise in public law matters, appellate advocacy and commercial litigation. Her public law experience extends across a broad range of subject areas including professional regulation and judicial discipline, higher education, elections, energy regulation, transportation, securities, sanctions and other regulatory and criminal matters.

In her commercial practice, Teagan handles breach of contract claims, shareholder and fiduciary disputes, fraud and defamation matters. She has experience in both litigation and arbitration proceedings, and her litigation practice has taken her to administrative tribunals, all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Education has played an important role in shaping Teagan's career. She graduated from the Schulich School of Law Dalhousie University as the gold medallist and earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the prestigious Harvard Law School. Her LL.M. studies were supported by the CBA Viscount Bennett Fellowship and J. William E. Mingo Memorial Fellowship.

Teagan also gained valuable insights on the judicial process as a law clerk to the Honourable Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella at the Supreme Court of Canada.

  • Peterson v. College of Psychologists of Ontario, 2023 ONSC 4685 – counsel for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association in its intervention on the limits of a professional regulator’s authority over members’ expression.
  • Hawke v. Western University, 2022 ONSC 5243 – counsel for Western University in responding to a challenge to their vaccination policy on privacy grounds.
  • Capital Sports Management Inc. v. Trinity Development et al., 2022 ONSC 6128, 2022 ONSC 5459, 2020 ONSC 7309 – counsel for a defendant responding to a claim arising out of a failed real estate development, including numerous contested motions.
  • Sherman Estate v. Donovan, 2021 SCC 25 – counsel for the Income Security Advocacy Centre in its intervention on the legal test to preclude disclosure of sensitive personal information in public proceedings.
  • Canadian Federation of Students v. Ontario (Colleges and Universities), 2021 ONCA 553 and 2019 ONSC 6658 – counsel for a student organization in its intervention in a successful challenge to government policy prohibiting mandatory student fees.
  • Clarus Securities Inc. v. Aphria Inc., 2021 ONSC 3720 – counsel for underwriters on a successful application to enforce an indemnity against an issuer in a securities dispute.
  • Counsel before the Cullen Commission of Inquiry into Money Laundering in British Columbia for the participant Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
  • Szuchewycz v. Canada (Attorney General), 2020 FC 954 – counsel for Chief Electoral Officer of Canada on judicial review.
  • Rooke v. Williams, 2020 FC 1070 – counsel in application to declare respondent a vexatious litigation in the Federal Court.
  • Smith v. Canada (Attorney General), 2020 FC 629 – counsel for Canadian Judicial Council on judicial review.
  • Ghorbankarimi v. Bergeron, 2020 ONSC 6864 – counsel for the corporate respondent on a successful motion to strike the statement of claim.
